The Onathinge Circuit in the Oshikoto Education Directorate has once again outperformed all the other education circuits in the region and has even taken the top circuit spot nationally with regards to Grade 10 results.
According to Naemi Amuthenu, her circuit has been the top performing for years, this year it is also ranked the best circuit nationally.
“It is the eighth consecutive year that the Onathinge circuit is outperforming all the circuits in the Oshikoto Region,” Amuthenu stated.
The circuit is the best with 78.3 percent pass rate, and two schools, Onathinge Combined School and Amunime Combined School, recorded a 100 percent pass rate. According to Amuthenu, Onathinge Combined School recorded a 100 percent Grade 10 examinations result for the second consecutive year.
She also encouraged other circuit heads to motivate themselves, the teachers and learners not to wait for supervisors to push them in order to achieve excellence.
“At my circuit we are self-motivated and we work as a team to ensure we produce great results,” said Amuthenu.
Amuthenu, who appreciated the support of the Onathinge community, said that the results couldn’t be possible without the involvement of parents in the education of their children.
Nehale Secondary School and Ontananga Secondary School recorded a pass rate of 97.1 percent and 92.5 percent, respectively, followed by Onamulunga Combined School with 88.6 per cent and Oshilulu Combined School with 84.8 percent.
Some 632 learners sat for 2018 Grade 10 final examinations in the Onathinge circuit, of which 495 passed and qualified for Grade 11.
Schools administered by the Onathinge Circuit are mostly non-boarding rural schools. The Oshikoto Region has eight circuits which are Onathinge, Onkumbula, Oshigambo, Onankali, Onyaanya, Omuthiya and Oshivelo.
