The suicide of the 18-year old Cornelius Nahole shocked the community in which he lived and the Namibian Police in Oshikoto Region launched an investigation into the tragic death of the Grade 8 learner.
Spokesperson of the Police in the Oshikoto Region, Inspector Ellen Nehale, confirming the incident and said Nahole is from the Omupanda village in the Omuntele area.
“The deceased was found hanging from the roof of a traditional hut. It is alleged that he committed suicide by hanging himself with a piece of rope,” said Nehale.
According to Inspector Nehale, the deceased was found by one of his siblings, while the parents of young man were on holiday at Walvis Bay.
Inspector Nehale added that the deceased was a Grade 8 learner at Amen Combined School at Onankali.
The young man did not leave any suicide note that would indicate the reason for him taking his own life. The next of kin were informed about his death.
Inspector Nehale said the body was transported to Omuthiya mortuary for autopsy purposes, while police investigation into the matter continues.
