Woman in intensive care after vicious panga attack

THE 34-year-old Aina Kambowe is fighting for her life in the intensive care unit of the Katutura Hospital after she was critically injured when she was attacked by her boyfriend who was armed with a panga.
According to the incident report provide by Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator the vicious attack occurred at about 20:50 on Friday evening during a domestic dispute at a house in the Harambee Location in Karibib.
“It is alleged that the 35-year-old Matheus Hangula struck Kambowe repeatedly with a panga causing deep cut wounds to her head and arms. Hangula and Kambowe resided together at the house where the attack occurred.”
According to the incident report the victim was rushed to the Usakos State Hospital but her critical condition prompted medical personnel to transfer her to the intensive care unit of the Katutura State Hospital in Windhoek.
The suspect was arrested and charged with attempted murder which would be read with the Domestic Violence Act, Act 4/2003 once his trial starts. The suspect did not tell the investigating officer what the reason for the vicious attack was.
Hangula is set to appear in the Karibib Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
