TWO young men were arrested in Windhoek this morning for stealing a tombstone from a cemetery in Katutura.
City Police Spokesperson Fabian Amukwelele confirmed that the men, aged 24 and 28, work for an undertaker company. He noted that they are notorious for selling and reselling tombstones. They now face charges of malicious damage to property and possession of stolen property.
“Yesterday, our operation found that four tombstones were stolen from the Pionierspark cemetery and 18 were stolen from Katutura cemetery. This is after families filed complaints,” Amukwelele said.
The men are expected to appear in court tomorrow morning.
