THE Namibian police in the Omusati Region are investigating a case of culpable homicide after an eighteen-month-old boy was killed by a reversing vehicle in the Uukwamatsi village near Okahao.
The incident occurred at around 10:00 on Tuesday.
According to the police, the driver of a silver Ford Ranger (N141-604W) was reversing out of Lesheni Iniko’s traditional homestead when he bumped the little boy, Simon Fikameni Gabriel, who was standing behind the vehicle.
According to police spokesperson Anna Kunga, the driver left the child with parents inside the house but, unbeknownst to him, the child followed him outside and was standing behind the vehicle when he reversed and caused the fatality.
“A postmortem is pending and no arrest was made,” said Kunga.
