TOP Cheri has become a force to reckon with in the Namibian music scene.
The NAMAs award-scooping artist has turned her attention to raise awareness on cancer through a new initiative.
The artist, whose real name is Monica Moroki, wants to give back to the community through a Cancer awareness campaign by creating a platform and conversation with woman in particular about the different type of cancer.
She has, however, extended the hand to male counterparts as well.
This campaign is set to be held before the end of October as it is Cancer month.
Speaking at the launch of the campaign in the capital today, Top Cheri stated that her team plans on have a cupcake sale to raise funds for Cancer related projects under CAN.
She added that she was inspired to start the campaign after hearing a story from a girl she met who told her that due to a lack of knowledge on cancer symptoms, her parents would take her to traditional healers, which made her condition deteriorate further.
“People have the perception that cancer is a white person’s disease, but it can happen to anyone. I’m hoping the companies come online and raise funds to educate the nation about the illness,” the Walvis Bay born artist said.
