Toddler dies tragically in car crash

TRAGEDY struck on the road between Usakos and Arandis when the two-year-old Andrea Pawa Jason, 2 died as a result of car crash early on Saturday morning.
According to the official report provided by the Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the accident occurred at around 06:00 approximately two kilometres outside Usakos when the driver of a red Isuzu double cab bakkie lost control over the vehicle.

According to the report the vehicle with eight occupants including the driver, a 34-year-old woman, was travelling on the B2 Road from Arandis in the direction of Usakos. The woman had seven children of varying ages with her in the car and they were on their way from Swakopmund to the North for a holiday.
“Approximately two kilometres before Usakos, the driver lost control over the vehicle in a gentle curve. The vehicle went off the road and overturned, causing the death of one occupant, and serious injuries to the other occupants.
The two-year-old Andrea Pawa Jason passed away at the scene of the crash.
The woman, a four-year-old girl, a five-year-old boy, a nine-year-old girl and a 19-year-old girl sustained serious injuries. Two boys aged four and nine did not sustain any serious injuries.
The injured persons were transported by ambulance to the Usakos State hospital for medical treatment while the body of the little girl was taken to Walvis Bay Police Mortuary.
