Three people sustained various degrees of injuries on Sunday evening when the vehicle they were travelling in between Swakopmund and Arandis left the road and overturned several times.
According to one of the emergency workers that attended the scene the accident was most likely the result of a tyre burst which caused the driver to lose control over the vehicle.
“The vehicle overturned numerous times resulting in three of the occupants sustaining injuries. The three victims were transported by ambulance to Swakopmund for further stabilisation and medical care.”
The accident occurred at about 20:00 approximately 30 kilometres outside Swakopmund while the driver and other occupants of the cars were travelling in the direction of Arandis.
An hour earlier, two other vehicles were involved in a side swipe or partial head-on collision approximately 50 kilometres outside Usakos on the way to Arandis.
“Two vehicles travelling in opposite directions, a bakkie and a minibus, were involved in the partial head-on collision near the turn off to Vergenoeg. Both vehicles left the road but miraculously no injuries were reported.”
The side swipe collision occurred at about 19:00 on Sunday evening.
The actual cause of the crash is still under investigation.
