Pensioners and people living with disabilities who receive their social grant payments through bank and Nampost accounts might have to wait a few days extra days at the end of this month before the social welfare ministry will be able to make payments to their accounts.
The Executive Director of the Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare, Esther Lusepani, announced in an official statement that there will be a delay of a few days in the normal payment of social grants such as old age pension and disability grants.
According to the ministry’s Spokesperson, Lot Ndamonomhata, technical difficulties with bank transfers is the cause of the current problem but he added that the payments will definitely be made as early as possible in the coming week. He also confirmed that payments will again normalize from the end of April and people will receive their money on time.
“Once the current problem is solved we will immediately let beneficiaries know that the payments will be made and that they will be able to collect their grants,” he said
Ndamonomhata pointed out that recipients who receive their grants in cash at pay points will be able to collect their payments as they usually do.
“Cash payments have not been affected. Only those people whose money is transferred electronically to Nampost and bank accounts will be affected.”
Lusepani said in her statement that the ministry deeply regrets the delay.
