THE swift response of the public and members of the Namibian Police officers to a call of burglary at a computer shop in the central business district of Windhoek saw the arrest of two members of the gang of thieves and the recovery of most of the stolen goods.
The burglary at Fusion Computer Zone was reported at around 02:00 on Saturday morning and according to Chief Inspector Kauna Shikwambi of the Police Public Relations Division the fleeing suspects were quickly apprehended by police officers running on their tracks.
“One of the suspects was arrested in Havana and the second suspect was rounded up in Wanaheda after leaving a trail of stolen goods as far as they ran. Two other suspects managed to evade capture.”
Chief Inspector Shikwambi said the stolen electronic equipment were recovered at various different places like shacks and river beds. The officers recovered 13 laptop computers, one monitor, eight hard drives, four memory cards, one destroyed safe and a studio light.
She commended the arresting officers for their swift response and also complimented those members of the public involved in leading the officers to the successful apprehension of the suspects.
