THE Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) officially launched its annual Swakopmund International Trade Expo (SWAITEX), a platform that not only brings pantheons in the Namibian business industry together, but also aims to reinvigorate business growth both locally and internationally.
The expo, which will be held at The Dome in Swakopmund, beckons businesses both large and small to exhibit and sell their products from 9 to12 October 2019.
Speaking at the launch, NCCI Chief Executive Officer, Charity Mwiya, stated that the expo is now in its seventh year, adding that the expo theme this year, “Promoting Intra-Regional Trade and Economic Integration” is aptly aligned to support and drive targeted discussions around the key elements that will turn around the economic trajectory of the country which should ultimately lead to greater economic inclusion, job creation and diversification.
“This year marks a very crucial milestone for us as an organisation. As you may recall, the Expo was birthed in 2013 under the leadership of our former NCCI Swakopmund Branch Chairperson Heinrich Hafeni, emanating from our deep desire to provide growth opportunities for businesses and community members. From our first mini-expo that took place in a small tent in the Swakopmund Municipality parking lot, to a branded and recognised expo that holds a premier place in our Erongo Region and for that matter, our country, SWAiTEX is now a national and international event as per the strategic planning retreat held by its Secretariat earlier in the year,” he said.

He added that this is due to the fact that they have managed to engage many of their National corporate members who have generously come on board either as sponsors or resource experts to add more value to the vision of making SWAiTEX the NCCI’s premier international event.

“This is due to the fact that we have managed to engage many of our national corporate members who have generously come on board either as sponsors or resource experts to add more value to the vision of making SWAiTEX, the NCCI’s premier international platform for business connection and growth opportunities,” he concluded.
