SEVEN years later, justice has finally prevailed for a Swakopmund family whose ten-year-old girl was raped in the presence of her brother.
The convict, Immanuel Nowoseb, lured the victim, now 18, into his house with her then three-year-old brother.
While there, he threatened her with a toy gun to her head in the presence of her brother before proceeding to rape her. Nowoseb knew the children because they attended the same church.
Nowaseb, 36, will now serve at least 15 years in prison following yesterday’s sentence.
For the rape charge, Nowaseb will serve 15 years and for the threatening charge, Magistrate Gaynor Poulton ordered that he serves 15 years. The two sentences will run concurrently.
The case has been dragging on for a number of reasons, including the withdrawal of lawyers. In total, Nowoseb, has had eight lawyers. At the end of his trial, Nowaseb represented himself.
Prosecutor Dalon Quickfall represented the state in the matter.
