TO promote health and wellbeing amongst especially the Namibian youth, the Dr Ben Haufiku Sport Club at Onheleiwa is planning to host its 9th open tournament.
Former health minister, Dr Bernard Haufiku, who is also the tournament’s patron, said that he believes sport and entertainment provides valuable avenues for health and disease prevention messages at community levels.
“It is for this reason that we see this year in no different way as Namibia continues to face various health related challenges such as the outbreak of Hepatitis E and persistence of other communicable diseases such as HIV and TB,” said Haufiku.
This year’s tournament will be held under theme “Kicking Hepatitis E and HIV out of Namibia through Sport.”
The event will be officiated by Founding President Sam Nuyoma and Minister of Sports Youth and Social Service, Erastus Uutoni.
