The decomposed body of 76-year-old Karl Heinz Traupe was discovered in the house where he lived in Swakopmund at the start of the Christmas weekend after his sister could not establish contact with him for a few days.
According to Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, the elderly man’s son made the gruesome discovery after his aunt informed him that his father is not answering his cellular phone.
“The deceased person was found on a couch in the lounge of the house number 44 in First Avenue on Friday where stayed on his own. The deceased person’s house doctor who also attended the scene told investigators that he was suffering from a heart problem which is suspected to be the cause of his death.”
According to Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu a post mortem examination will still be performed to determine the actual cause of death but that no foul play is suspected at this time.
