The Ministry of Poverty Eradication and Social Welfare together with NAMPOST has stated that following an assessment of payment files, it was found that some beneficiaries received a double payment of their grants for the months of July and August.
Executive Director of the Ministry of Poverty Eradication and social welfare, Esther Lusepani issued a statement in which she said that due to this erroneous payment, beneficiaries who received a double payment in July/August 2019 will not receive a payment in September 2019.
Lusepani further explained that the double payments were a result of a payment error NAMPOST experienced when they introduced the new cards for the different smart card accounts.
“Against this background, all beneficiaries are advised that NAMPOST would electronically reverse those double payment transactions. Therefore, those beneficiaries who received a double payment in July/August 2019 pay cycle will not receive a payment in September 2019” Lusepeni explained.
The executive director stated that the ministry regrets the inconvenience the aforementioned arrangement will cause the clients, but ensures normalcy in the October pay cycle.
She further urged all beneficiaries to ensure that these grants are used for the welfare of beneficiaries and their families.
