THE three children along with three adults that died as result of the horrific accident, where a seven seater station wagon rolled next to the road between Kamanjab and Outjo while it was overloaded with twice its passenger capacity, has been identified.
The Public Relations Division of the Namibian Police in a report about the incident identified the children as the 10-year-old Joseph Kaluwashi, Ben Kaluwashi aged five, and the one-year-old Ndangi Jaunda. The adults were identified as the 70-year-old Ipinge Shaduka, Moreen Taurus (40) and the 32-year-old Justine Jaunda.
According to the incident report the 49-year-old driver and 13 other people were travelling in the vehicle in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The driver was transporting the occupants to Opuwo further north from Kamanjab when the crash occurred.
It is alleged that the left rear tyre of the vehicle burst causing the out of control car to leave the road and overturn several times.
The driver and seven other people sustained various degrees of injuries. Three of the critically injured people were transferred to the Katutura State Hospital later on Friday night.
A case of culpable homicide was registered with the police at Outjo Police Station.
