Single goal steers South Africa to victory

THE Southern African derby between Namibia and South Africa ended in victory for Bafana Bafana when they scored the winning goal about halfway through the second half of the Group D match in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Bongani Zungu scored a spectacular goal for South Africa when he headed the ball into the back of the Namibian net from a corner kick.
The strategy of the Brave Warriors to attack quickly especially from their own goal area did not pay off against the South Africans.
With the score at 0 – 0 at half time score both teams missed golden opportunities to score with clear shots at the goal during the first half.
Sibusiso Vilakazi, the South African attacking midfielder, was the thorn in Namibian flesh on several occasions but that Brave Warrior defence warded off four clear attempts at goal.
Brave Warrior Deon Hotto Kavendji had three good opportunities at an open goal but two of his kicks went wide off the mark and the third scramble to the goal line was cleared by the South African defenders.
After scoring the only goal of the match the South Africans dominated with ball possession and denied the Brave Warriors a chance to equalise the score and effectively forcing them out of this year’s tournament.
