A superb goal from a free kick just outside the goal area of Nigeria in the dying seconds of the second semifinal match of 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament saw Algeria progress to the final.
An own goal by the Super Eagles’ William Troost-Ekong five minutes before the end of the first half put Algeria in the lead which they kept until Nigeria scored the equaliser with 18 minutes of play left in the match.
Pdion Ighalo scored Nigeria’s equaliser and the match settled down in anticipation of extra time.
With only seconds to spare in axtra time, a careless tackle by a Nigerian player just outside his own goal area gave Algeria a free kick which Riyad Mahrez put in the back of the net past a wall of Super Eagles and their goal keeper giving Aleria a 2 – 1 victory.
Ageria will go on to face Senegal in the final after the West African team managed to eliminate Tunisa from the tournament earlier on Sunday.
