The 27-year-old self-confessed murderer of the 23-year-old Gideon Hamuteta, an education student in her third year at the Hifikepunye Pohamba Campus in Ongwediva gave himself up to police at the well known Ongwediva Roadblock after his attempt to commit suicide failed
Hamuteta died after she was stabbed repeatedly in the chest by the man.
Oshana Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Hilya Haipumbu, confirmed the incident to Informante on Monday, saying a murder case was registered with the Oshana Police.
However, Haipumbu could not reveal any further details of the case as police investigations are still in a very sensitive stage.
A person involved with the case said that Hamuteta’s self-confessed murderer sent a text message to his intended victim in which he threatened to kill her.
“It is still unknown if the message was sent while the man was still in Windhoek or on his way to the North.”
The suspect later handed himself over to the Namibian Police officers that were on duty at the Ongwediva roadblock, after could not bring himself to the point of ending his own life.
