THE dangers for especially female security guards who have to guard buildings at night once again became obvious after a 27-year-old woman was raped while on duty.
According to the Namibian Police crime report, the incident happened in Oshakati, on Saturday 20 April, at around 01h00 at Namutanga Bar, Evululuko location.
It is alleged that after the bar closed, the victim was taken by surprise while guarding the bar when a 31-year-old suspect grabbed and dragged her into the toilet and raped her on the floor despite her protests.
The victim alerted the police and the suspect was arrested.
In another incident, an 18-year-old male was slashed with a machete across the left side of his head after allegedly taking his friends cap.
The incident reportedly happened in Rehoboth on Sunday 21 April between 04h00 & 05h00 at block B, Rehoboth.
It is alleged that a suspect entered the room of his friend looking for his cap after they were drinking and a fight erupted between the two of them, whereby the suspect used a machete to cut the victim on the left side of his head.
The unidentified victim was transferred to Windhoek and is said to be in critical condition. The suspect, 19, was arrested and police investigations continue.
A case of murder was also opened in Ondobe this weekend after a male suspect fatally stabbed his girlfriend with a knife several times in the chest and stomach.
The deceased was identified as Hambeleleni Inamulyange Gabriel, 25, a resident of Oshimumu village.
The suspect, Festus Tuhafeni Frans, 36, fled the scene and committed suicide a few meters away from the crime scene. Their next of kin were informed.
