A SAILOR of the Namibian Navy was arrested by the Namibian Police after he shot and wounded a police officer during an argument at a bar in the Goreangab Residential area of Windhoek.
According to the incident report provided by the Public Relations Division the two members of the Namibian security forces were both off duty and drinking at a bar in Klein William Street during the early hours of Sunday morning when the argument erupted.
“It is alleged that the suspect shot the victim with a pistol in the shoulder during the fight at the bar. The 30-year-old victim, who is a member of the VIP Directorate of the Namibian Police managed to take the firearm away from the suspect and took it to the Wanaheda police Station.”
The 24-year-old suspect, a sailor in the Namibian Navy was arrested shortly afterwards and charged with attempted murder. The firearm is licensed in the name of the suspect.
The police officer was taken to the Katutura State Hospital for emergency medical care where he is still admitted and in a stable condition.
Two young men from the Okahenge Village in the Omungwelume policing area was arrested and charged with attempted murder after the viciously attacked a 43-year-old man with a piece of wood.
According to the incident report the attack occurred near the Pahangwashimwe School at about 00:55 on Friday morning.
The suspects who are 18 and 26-years-old beat the man on his fore head with a stick and in esuing scuffle also broke his left arm.
The victim was was rushed to the Oshakati Intermediate hospital where he still is in a critical condition.
Both the younger men were arrested and charged with attempted murder.
A man is fighting for his life in the intensive care unit of the Tsumeb Hospital after he was stabbed by another man during an argument over a woman.
According to the report about the incident the fight between the two men broke out at the Ohandoni Village in the Mangetti area on Friday. During the scuffle the 46-year-old suspect stabbed the 35-year-old victim with a pocket knife.
The victim was taken to the Oshivelo Clinic for stabilisation. He was transferred to the Tsumeb hospital where he is still admitted in a critical condition.
