Rape tornado hits Namibia

OUT of the six cases of rape that were reported to the Namibian Police over the past weekend, one incident involved yet another minor victim.
The incident involving the minor girl occurred during the early hours of Saturday morning in the Nau-aib residential area of Okahandja.
According to the report about the incident, a neighbour of the Grade 7 learner abducted her from her house in the Budget Homes area and forced her to go t his house where he sexually assaulted the 15-year-old girl.
A charge of rape was registered with the Namibian Police in Okahandja and a 20-year-old man was arrested shortly afterwards
In Witvlei, a 26-year-old man was arrested on a charge of rape after he followed his 37-year-old victim home form a shebeen where he forced her to have sexual intercourse with him.
According to the incident report the woman’s pleas with the suspect and her telling him that she was pregnant, fell on deaf ears. He went ahead and undressed the victim before raping her.
Another person who witnessed the incident called the police and the suspect was arrested on the scene of the heinous crime.
The police in Tsumeb is looking for a suspect who raped a 30-year-old woman in the bushes near the graveyard of the town early on Saturday morning.
It is alleged that the victim asked the suspect for lift from a club but instead of taking her home the man drove into the bushes where he forced the victim to have sexual intercourse with him.
A 24-year-old woman from Donkerhoek in Rundu, who was walking home from work in the early hours of Saturday morning, was raped after an unknown suspect grabbed her from behind.
According to the incident report the victim was dragged into the court yard of a nearby building where the suspect threatened to kill her with a knife if she resisted him.
The suspect fled the scene of the heinous crime and the police is yet to identify the perpetrator and make an arrest.
On Friday the Namibian Police in Swakopmund arrested a 21-year-old homeless man in connection with the kidnapping and rape of a 41-year-old woman during the early hours of Friday morning.
According to the incident report the suspect was one of two men who accosted the woman while she was walking home over an open area near the Mondesa cemetery.
The victim told investigators that the men grabbed and threatened to kill her. They forced her to the cemetery where they both raped her.
It is alleged that the suspect in custody took the victim to the place where he normally sleeps where he again forced her to have sex with him.
According to the incident report the victim identified the suspect as one of the two men who raped her.
