Dr. Hage Geingob, the President of Namibia, has learned with profound sadness of Sunday’s fatal accident, involving two minibuses on the B1 road between Otavi and Tsumeb, leading to the tragic death of 13 people.
Dr. Geingob appealed for safer roads and strict enforcement of speed limits and said: “For the law to take its cause and in honour of victims of yet another needless accident, a proper investigation should be speedily carried out. Our roads have become unwarranted killing fields, and I appeal to law enforcement agencies to patrol our roads and enforce speed limits. Drivers carrying passengers must drive safely, respect rules, and adhere to speed limits in order to avoid fatalities. Innocent passengers should not lose their lives due to negligent drivers.”
He wished those people who were injured a speedy recovery and the President also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and friends.
