The Namibian Police is still looking for a 19-year-old man who allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl at Oshivelo on Friday.
This shocking incident of rape of minor by a young adult preceded a weekend where four more Namibian women were killed by the men in their lives as Gender Based Violence seems to continue unabated.
According to the official crime report of the Namibian Police the rape of the little eight-year-old girl occurred on Friday at Oshivelo in the Oshikoto Region.
It is alleged that the girl was playing in her home with other children before she was grabbed by the 19-year-old man who also stays at the same house.
“The young man dragged the little girl to the bushes, where he forced her to have sexual intercourse with him before fleeing the scene of the heinous crime.
The lifeless body of the 25-year-old, Felisia Ndamonoghenda Petrus was discovered in her bed in a shack in the Goreangab informal settlement in Windhoek where she was allegedly strangled by her boyfriend. According to the crime report the deceased person had very prominent marks on the neck that indicated that she was throttled to death.
The suspect in the matter fled the scene of the crime and the police is yet to make an arrest with regards to the murder.
In another murder incident on Saturday the 39-year-old Patricia Hochobes died after she was allegedly stabbed to death by her boyfriend with a pair of scissors. The murder of yet another woman by the man she loved occurred at a house in Omulunga Street in the Hakahana neighbourhood of Windhoek.
According to the crime report the deceased woman and the suspect got involved in a quarrel before the man stabbed the woman to death.
In this case the suspect was arrested.
The 22-year-old Kalumbu Ndapandula Magano form the Oshipinga village in the Onesi constituency died after she was fatally wounded in the chest with a shell fired from a shotgun by her boyfriend.
The 22-year-old Eelu Simon Veana Shimwino also shot two other people who gathered at the scene of the crime before fleeing to another village nearby. The suspect committed suicide when police officer who tracked him to his uncle’s house wanted to arrest him.
A man from the Okatope Village in the Ohangwena Region was arrested after he stabbed a woman with several times with a knife. The victim sustained serious wounds to her chest area. She was rushed to Engela State Hospital.
When members of the police went to arrest the man they found him bleeding from a deep cut wound to his left arm. He was taken into custody and is currently under police guard at the Engela State Hospital.
The 63-year-old Jaqueline Carin Van Der Merwe allegedly committed suicide by feeding exhaust gas from her car into the vehicle with a garden hose at house number 11 in Kormoran Street, Swakopmund.
Van der Merwe was found unconscious in the garage while the engine of her car was still running. She was rushed to the Cottage Private Hospital where she was later declared dead.
