THE Namibian Police in the Oshana Region is requesting the public to assist in tracing an unknown woman who dumped a newly born baby boy in Ongwediva.
According to the regional spokesperson, Sergeant Frieda Shikole, the baby was discovered on Thursday by a passerby who heard an infant crying.
“The baby was left to fend for itself next to the sewage ponds in Ongwediva,” said Shikole.
She added that the baby is fine and was admitted at Oshakati State Hospital for treatment and care.
Shikole requested the public to come forth with any information that can lead to the tracing of the mother who left her new born infant on its own to die.
