THE Namibian Police in Rundu are looking for the drivers of two vehicles in connection with the death of an unknown San man that was killed after being run over on the Trans Caprivi Highway on Friday evening.
According to the incident report provided by Nampol’s Public Relations Division the unknown man was killed while he crossed the main road near the Truckport.
“It is alleged that the deceased person was hit by a white Toyota Corolla while crossing the road. Moments later a second vehicle drove over the man after he fell in the road. The drivers of both vehicles fled the scene.”
Several other incidents where pedestrians were killed or injured were registered with the Namibian Police across the country.
Another man, who still has to be identified by Nampol was killed while walking across Sean McBride Street on in Windhoek.
According to the incident report the victim was struck by a truck.
An eight-year-old girl is fighting for her life in the intensive care unit of the Onandjokwe State Hospital after she was hit by a white Toyota Corolla while she was crossing the road between Onethindi and Eenhana on Friday evening.
According to the official police report, the accident occurred near Oshigambo at about 22:30 on Friday evening.
“The victim was rushed to the Onandjokwe State Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.”
The 51-year-old Joel Neshuku was killed instantly during an incident where he was struck by a white Volkswagen on the road between Omafo and Okalongo near the Okapumbu and Ohadiwa villages.
According to the incident report, the accident occurred at about 21:50 on Saturday evening while the deceased person was also in the process of crossing the road.

Another pedestrian sustained serious injuries after being struck by a speeding vehicle while walking next to the main road between Oshikuku and Elim on Sunday.
According to the official incident report the driver of a white Ford Ranger struck the pedestrian while in the process of overtaking another vehicle near the Iiyale Village in the Omusati Rgeion.
The victim was transported to the Oshikuku State Hospital for emergency medical care.
Two passengers and the driver of a taxi sustained various degrees of injuries after the vehicle they were travelling in struck the barriers on a bridge in the area of Ongwediva near the Oshiko police checkpoint.
According to the incident report the driver to lost control over the vehicle before crashing into the barriers of the bridge. After the impact the vehicle overturned leaving the driver critically injured
The passengers sustained injuries to their heads and eyes and all injured persons were transported to the Oshakati State Hospital for emergency medical care.
A 29-year-old man was arrested in Nkurenkuru after he damaged a government vehicle during an incident where he drove into the sidewalk and over a traffic circle in town.
According to the incident report the man attempted to hide the damage he had done by parking the vehicle in a clump of bushes and fleeing further on foot.
The suspect faces charges of reckless and negligent driving as well as attempting to defeat the course of justice
The 68-year-old Salomo Tjipura died after the vehicle he drove overturned on the road between Grootfontein and Otjituuo late on Friday afternoon.
The accident occurred at about 17:15 and it is suspected that the deceased person, who was the only occupant, lost control over the vehicle before it overturned.
Another fatal car accident was reported to the police at Otjituuo on Saturday after the driver of a vehicle that overturned on the road between Otjikangotjozongarangombe and Katjoruu died on the way to the Otjituuo clinc.
The police did not identify the deceased person but added that the only passenger in the vehicle escaped unhurt.
In another incident early on Sunday evening two people died as a result of a head-on collision between two vehicles on the main road between Oshikuku and Outapi.
“It is alleged that a Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Pickup collided which resulted in the instant death of the Toyota driver and one of his passengers. The driver of the Volkswagen and two other passengers from the Toyota sustained injuries and were taken to Oshikuku Catholic Hospital.”
The police identified the deceased persons as the 26-year-old Shapumba Gideon and the 46-year-old Lukas Shinana.
