Phosphate protesters march on the High Court

Eba Kandovazzu & Marthina Mutanga

WORKERS marched on the Office of the Prime Minister and from there to the High Court in Windhoek to hand over petitions in which they protest against phosphate mining off the coast of Namibia.
The protest in Windhoek preceded an application in the High Court of Namibia where the way in which mining licences were issued to the companies that aims to develop phosphate mining projects will be challenged.
The march in Windhoek follows mass action in Walvis Bay where more than a thousand workers marched on the offices of the Ministry of Environment and Tourism to protest the way in which mining licences were issued to companies who aims to develop rock phosphate mining projects.
