A PASTOR of the Holy Ghost Fire Ministries in Walvis Bay, 39-year-old Marvin Ellis Damaseb, was arrested in Windhoek on Friday in connection with the kidnapping of 13-year-old girl from her home in Kuisebmond at the beginning of this week.
The mother of Clementine Uiras, Thalieta Uiras reported her missing to the Namibian Police after she did not return home from school last Monday.
According to Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu the search for the girl since Monday revealed that Pastor Damaseb kidnapped the girl and that he held her prisoner in a house in Nathaniel Maxuilili Street in Kuisebmond to keep her away from her mother. After locking her inside the house on Monday the pastor somehow transported his victim to Windhoek where both he and the girl were spotted in Windhoek. A case of kidnapping was subsequently registered with the police in Walvis Bay.
“A warrant of arrest was issued in Walvis Bay in the name of Damaseb and was distributed to members of the Namibian Police in Windhoek where he was arrested on Friday evening.”
Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu said the victim was rescued and taken to the shelter of the Woman and Child Protection Unit in Windhoek and placed in the care of social workers. He said that she will be returned home soon.
Because the warrant of arrest in connection with the kidnapping of the minor girl was executed in Windhoek Pastor Damseb will make his first appearance on the charge of Kidnapping in a Magistrate’s Court in the capital city on Monday.
