THE Toivo United from Ohangwena Region won the soccer championship of the village-based sporting event, held at Onheleiwa on Friday and Saturday.
Toivo United last year lost in the quarter finals, said the team coach Toivo Nghesheya, shortly after his team received its prize.
The soccer and netball tournament was sponsored by Windhoek-based medical doctor, Bernard Haufiku, who is orginally from the Onheleiwa area.
Toivo United defeated Okalongo United by two goals to one in the final match on Saturday.
As champions, Toivo United took home a floating trophy, gold medals and a cash prize of N$ 5 000.
The runners up walked away with silver medals and a cash prize of N$ 2 500, while DT MET scooped the third prize of bronze medals and a cash prize of N$ 1 500.
Young Star in netball won the contest for the third consecutive year after beating Team Cobra 24-21 in the finals.
As the winning netball team, Young Star scooped a floating trophy, gold medals and N$ 3 300.
As runners up Team Cobra walked away with silver medals and N$ 1 700, while 7 strong wave was third runners up scooped bronze medals and N$ 1 000.
The tournament is being held for the 09th time with the aim of promoting health wellbeing among the youth.
Haufiku sponsored the tournament in collaboration with companies such as Rani Group, Ondangwa Private Hospital.
