THE Ongwediva Town Council has on Friday inaugurated its new leadership for the Junior Council to take up the work of the outgoing leadership.
At the same Ceremony on Friday, Natasha Iipumbu, a Grade 11 learner at Mweshepandeka Secondary School was sworn in as the new Junior Mayor for Ongwediva.
Iipumbu was sworn in along with other 18 members of the Ongwediva Junior Council, with Christoph Ndengu as the Deputy Junior Mayor.
Members of the council are drawn from various schools within the boundaries of Ongwediva town.
They are chosen to serve for a period of two years.
Accepting her, Iipumbu said that she promises to be a great leader that she could possibly be.
“I am well aware that this position comes with great responsibility, determination, sacrifice and hard work, and I am willing to put these on my shoulders,” said Iipumbu.
According to her, being part of the leadership is a sign that they have been given a platform to let their voice be heard and ensure that silence is never part of their qualities, but rather be define as the loud, strong and courageous leaders.
