ZELNA Hengari, Managing Director of Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR), has been suspended with immediate effect after receiving a letter to this effect on Tuesday afternoon.
In an official statement issued by the Chairperson of the NWR Board of Directors, Ambassador Leonard Iipumbu, Hengari was suspended with immediate effect and with full pay.
According to Iipumbu, Hengari’s suspension is the result of pending investigations.
“We do not at this stage wish to divulge the nature of the investigations,” he said.
In the same statement, Iipumbu announced that Chief Officer: Strategy and Projects, Dr. Matthias Ngwangwama, has been appointed as the acting managing director until such time that the investigations against Hengari are completed and dealt with.
With regard to the interim appointment of Ngwangwama as Managing Director, Iipumbu said: “We are confident that the company will be in good hands.”
