THE financially crippled state-owned enterprise, Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) today received a state of the art mobile HD-Outside Broadcasting van from telecommunication giant, MTC.
The investment is part of the strategic partnerships between the two corporations to elevate digital news in the country.
MTC Board Chairperson, Elvis Nashilongo, said that the multi-million dollar infrastructure will help to broadcast live events such as soccer and boxing matches.
“After 3 years of fruitful deliberations between the two entities that both have a passion for quality broadcast, we found it befitting to invest in a brand new multi-million dollar HD OB flyaway kit. Such an investment will not benefit MTC and NBC alone, but other stakeholders,” he said.
He further noted that through this investment, NBC can broadcast live at least one Namibia Premier League match per week.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Technology, Engelbrecht Nawatiseb, said that the partnership entered by MTC and NBC depicts the spirits of Harambe in pulling resources together to build the Namibian house.
“I want to take this opportunity to encourage other state own enterprises to tap into the opportunity created by NBC and MTC to come to the table and participate by bringing this open broadcasting van to their premises so that they can present to the viewer reality shows showing what happens in their respective companies,” said Nawatiseb.
