Nampol looking for drug suspects from ten years ago

AS the Namibian Police has intensified the fight against the scourge of illicit drugs with an increase in new arrests and a drive to finalise old cases still pending in court, Nampol requested the public to assist in tracing accused persons arrested as far back as ten years ago.
According to a statement issued by the head of Nampol’s Public Relations Division, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi, one Desmond Mouton who was arrested in 2009 on a charge of possession of dagga along with 24 other suspects who absconded from standing trial since then are being looked for by the Drug Law Enforcement Sub-division.
The 24 other absconders are Nautende Ananias Iyambo for dealing in crack cocaine in 2014, Daniel Vaino for possession of cannabis in 2018, Paulus Ndapandula for possession of Mandrax tablets in 2015, Jackson Wickes Wendura on possession of cannabis in 2013, Eliphas Petrus on possession of Mandrax tablets in 2015, Stefanus Venotjari Katjizembwa on possession on various illegal drugs in 2015, Andreas Moses on possession of cannabis in 2017, Erwin Matroos on possession of cannabis in 2010, Benjamin Goagoseb on possession of cannabis in 2010, Ivan Uirab on possession of cannabis in 2012, Fransiska Gubes on possession of Mandrax tablets in 2015, Levis da Silva Dabo on dealing in crack cocaine in 2012, Baby Nkanga on dealing in crack cocaine in 2013, Julia de Klerk on possession of Mandrax tablets in 2018, Ludwig Urikob on possession of crack cocaine in 2015, Armas Kandabo on possession of cannabis in 2015, Malesha Shaku Kabeya on dealing in crack cocaine in 2013, Sandra Uiras on dealing in cannabis in 2013, Chico Mendez on possession of cannabis in 2018, Isak Swartz for dealing in crystal meth and khat in 2017, James Coetzee on possession of Mandrax tablets in 2015, Ryno Lappies van Wyk on possession of Mandrax tablets and cannabis in 2015, Pieter Bollie van Wyk on possession of Mandrax tablets and cannabis in 2015 and Aubry Markus on possession of Mandrax tablets in 2013.
Deputy Commissioner Kanguatjivi in his statement requested any person with information regarding the whereabouts of anyone of the accused persons on the list to contact Detective Warrant Officer Sinvula at 081 369 1869 or at 061 209 4400 or to report such information at the nearest police station.
In the meantime a total of 118 suspects who were all found in possession of illicit drugs and smuggled cigarettes were arrested by the Namibian Police during the month of July this year.
According to a statement issued by the head of Nampol’s Public Relations Division, Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi, the large number of arrested persons is constituted by 106 Namibians, three Angolans, one Ethiopian, six Congolese, one South African and one Tanzanian.
“The value of the seized drugs and smuggled cigarettes is estimated at N$531 320 and the illicit items were confiscated from 1 to 31 July.”
During July officers confiscated 33, 16 kilograms of dagga worth N$331 600 and cannabis plants weighing 401 grams worth N$4 040. Officers also confiscated 214 Mandrax tablets worth N$25 680; 102 grams of cocaine powder worth N$51 000; 140 units of crack cocaine worth N$14 000 and 21 boxes of Yes cigarettes worth N105 000.
