Namibian basketball does well at Beach Games

The first ever 3X3 Namibian women’s national basketball team recently came fourth at the African Beach Games in Sal-Cape Verde, a history making occasion that brought Namibia in the limelight of beach basketball.
These games catered for 11 sports codes, 54 countries and 1000 athletes with Namibia making its first appearance at the competition.
The games catered for 11 sports codes and the Namibian women competed against 20 nations where they managed to obtain a fourth-place ranking.
This is the first time Namibia is taking part in such a widely recognized tournament in the 3X3 world of competition, and specifically women.
Namibia played a set of seven games with a record of four losses and three wins to grant them 78 points. Nigeria took third with 90 points, with Togo coming in second place with 98 points and Mali scooping gold as the elite champions with a whopping 114 points.
One of the players, Gie Mukumbuta, also a team member, said she was proud of her fellow teammatess and was honored to have taken part in such a competition.
“My team mates and I have learnt so much during our time here and not only on court. We hope to see.
