The Namibian National Soccer team kicked off their world cup qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over Eritrea.
Eritrea, who is ranked third from last in FIFA ranking, put up a decent performance to keep the Namibian attack at bay with the home crowd to their advantage.
The game took place at the Asmara stadium.
The first half saw Namibia dominating but failing to convert their chances
Second half, saw Peter Shalulie opening the score line in the 50th minute of the game followed by an own goal by Eritrea to give Namibia the advantage when going into the second leg match.
Eritrea managed to score one goal to end the game with 2 – 1 score.
The second leg match will be played out on Tuesday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in Windhoek.
