NAMIBIA bowed out of the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier tournament in Dubai in fourth place despite a promising partnership of skipper Gerhard Erasmus and Stephen Baard at the crease.
Erasmus scored yet another half century during the third place playoff match against Ireland but it was not enough for his team to pull through and make third place.
Namibia was chasing a target of 136 runs for victory but fell 27 runs short of that target after they were all bowled out in the 19th over.
Ireland won the toss and opted to bat and good ball work from the Namibian side during the first innings saw the men from the emerald isle struggling to put up an unreachable target.
After the match Erasmus said he was pleased with his side’s campaign and proud to have qualified for the T20 World Cup.
Because Namibia finished the tournament in the top six they already qualified for the T20 World Cup Tournament in Australia next year.
“It is going to be an exciting twelve months and our challenge is to get our squad deeper,” Erasmus said with regards to their preparations for the World Cup tournament in 2020.
