MSYNS trains youths for employment

Minister of Sport, Youth and National Service Erastus Uutoni, said his ministry has put in place plans to come up with strategy on how to create employment for the youth in the country.
Uutoni stated that, his ministry introduced a youth credit scheme in 2015 which benefited many youth and had about 996 youth trained, who wants to be entrepreneurs.
Uutoni, made the announcement during the public town hall meeting held in Omuthiya on Monday, saying that his aware of high unemployment in the country.
He said that about 879 youths received loans in Oshikoto Region, with 810 businesses that were established.

“Some of the businesses that you see like barbershop, salon and others were established through the training offered to some of the youths,” said Uutoni.
Furthermore, he stated that 882 employment opportunities were created through the training that was offered.
Uutoni said so far nearly 300 youths from all of Namibia’s 121 constituencies completed their training at Ongwediva in the Oshana Region for a rural youth enterprise workshop in June.
Uutoni noted that the Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) availed N$1 million for the hosting of the training, while his ministry provided the transport.
All the participated youth were expected to compile viable business plans with the assistance of DBN, the University of Namibia and the offices of their regional councillors for funding purposes.
Furthermore, DBN has committed to give all the youth that went through the training loans for their businesses, provided that they represent a business plan.
