THE 28-year-old Ruth Lydia Rageul Noabes was arrested in Henties Bay after she filmed her own actions where she attempted to murder her one-and-half-year-old baby boy.
According to Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu, the Erongo Regional Crime Investigations Coordinator, the woman faces a charge of attempted murder and assault read with the Domestic Violence Act after she tried to suffocate the little boy after hitting him in the face several times.
“She sent the video of her attack on the baby to the father of the child who allegedly terminated his relationship with the suspect.”
Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu said the little boy was taken to a place of safety after the mother’s arrest. The suspect is expected to make an appearance in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court later today.
The vicious attack on the baby boy is similar to the incident where Zenobia Seas murdered her daughter Ava Owoses almost three years ago on a desolate beach north of Henties Bay.
Seas was sentenced to 25 years imprisonment during August 2018 after she admitted to smothering little Ava with a blanket and then attempting to commit suicide by setting fire to the vehicle with the deceased child and herself still inside.
