A CASE of murder was reported to the Namibian police in the Ohangwena Region after the two-year-old Daniel Shilongo was found dead at the traditional homestead of Frans Haiyanga in the Okatope village Monday evening.
The suspects in the case are minor children aged 2, 3 and 6 years respectively.
It is alleged that four minor children were left unattended when two older females went to fetch “a power bank” from a neighbouring homestead where it was being charged.
When they returned at around 19:00 they found Daniel’s lifeless body at the entrance of the homestead. The little boy’s nose and mouth were filled with sand and he had some deep scratch marks on his chest chest area.
When asked what transpired by the police, the three small children pointed fingers at one another, each accusing the others of having hit the deceased with the stalks of dry mahangu plants and of stuffing sand in his his mouth and nose.
Police indicated that a post mortem examination will be performed on the deceased toddler to determine the actual cause of death.
