A FIGHT over a piece of meat ended in the death of a man identified as Uaputara Maharukua on a farm in the area of Gobabis.
According to the Namibian Police’s crime bulletin, the victim was stabbed to death in the early hours of last Thursday at Farm Ruimte after two men started fighting over meat which they were given by their employer.
According to the incident report the fight was broken up and both men went to their houses. Anger over the unresolved issue prompted one of the men to go to the other’s house to retaliate.
Another fight broke out and the 58-year-old suspect stabbed Maharukua several times. The victim died on the spot and the suspect was arrested and charged with murder.
The Otjiwarongo police are looking for the murderer of an unidentified man whose lifeless body was found at around 05:00 on Sunday morning with a stab wound in his chest.
According to the incident report the man was lying in a pool of blood when his body was discovered in the Telecom Location of Otjiwarongo.
In a separate incident in the Ombome Village near Onesi one man was seriously injured when was struck with a knobkiere in the forehead by another man during a fight
The reason for the fight is not clear but the person who caused the injuries to the victim was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
The incident occurred last Saturday evening at about 21:00 and the suspect made his first appearance in the Outapi Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The police at Keetmanshoop have launched an investigation into the death of the three month old Eddyson Shifonono that died last Friday while his mother was busy taking him to hospital.
According to the incident report the mother left the child with her sister and went to the shop. When she arrived back home she found the baby gasping and she immediately rushed him to the hospital. The baby was sadly declared dead upon his arrival at the hospital.
The 44-year-old Matjokwe Thimotheus drowned while he was crossing the Kavango River in his canoe from Angola to Namibia.
The incident occurred near the Diyogha Village last Friday and was reported to the police at Divundu
It is alleged that the deceased person’s canoe hit on a rock causing him to drown after he fell in the water.
A trial awaiting prisoner, Johannes Gabriel, died in the Otjiwarongo State Hospital on Sunday evening after he reported sick to police officers at the police stations’ holding cells
According to the crime bulletin the prisoner was taken to hospital by ambulance at about 16:50 on Sunday afternoon. At about 21:50 medical staff at the hospital informed the police that Gabriel has passed away.
The 32-year-old Martha Mathias, who was a trial awaiting prisoner at the Lüderitz Police Station, committed suicide by hanging herself with a piece of cloth torn from a pair of denim trousers in the toilet of her holding cell.
The suicide was discovered by officers on duty in the charge office when they went to inspect the holding cells at 06:00 on Sunday morning.
