THE 32-year-old Jesaya Kauluma is currently in a critical condition in the Katutura State Hospital after he was shot in the head during a fight over a frying pan he stole from the owner’s house.
According to Deputy Commissioner Tobie Gerber, Acting Erongo Regional Police Commander, the owner of the frying pan was arrested on a charge of attempted murder.
Deputy Commissioner Gerber said the incident occurred shortly before lunch time on Saturday in the Meduletu Location near the Single quarters in Mondesa.
“It is alleged that Kauluma stole the frying pan from the owner’s house. The owner saw him taking the pan and gave chase. After a long chase the owner managed to catch the thief”
Deputy Commissioner Gerber said Kauluma then drew a knife with intent to stab the owner of the pan. In reaction to seeing the knife the owner of the pan took out his pistol and shot the thief once in the head.”
“Kauluma was taken to Swakopmund State Hospital in a critical condition but was later transferred to the Katutura State Hospital in Windhoek.”
The frying pan and the knife were found in Kauluma’s possession while the pistol was confiscated from the owner of the pan.
He said the person who shot Kauluma was arrested and is scheduled to appear on a charge of attempted murder Swakopmund Magistrate Court on Monday.
