THE 27-year-old Mandebo Mutondo is in police custody at Karirbib in connection with the murder of the one-year-old Mousha Kendy Nunuhes, who died in his care.
According to Deputy Commissioner Erastus Iikuyu the little girl’s bruised body was discovered by her 31-year-old mother when she returned home after work on Thursday.
“It is alleged that, the mother of the victim left her child with Mutondo, the little girl’s stepfather at their home in the Usab Location and went to work on Thursday at about 06:00. When she returned home at about 18:00 and found the child dead with bruises all over her body.”
Deputy Commissioner Iikuyu said what exactly transpired in the home of the little girl while her mother was away at work is still being investigated by detectives.
The victim’s body was taken to Usakos State Mortuary at first and was later be taken to Walvis Bay Police Mortuary for a post-mortem examination to determine the actual cause of death.
He said the suspect was arrested shortly after the mother discovered the body of her child and he is scheduled to appear in the Karibib Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
