Loud thunder precede rain at the coast

THUNDER and lightning late on Thursday evening was the prelude to light rain that fell over large parts of the coast during the night.

Residents of major coastal towns woke up to streets dotted with water puddles and having to make hasty repairs to informal housing structures to keep dry in anticipation of more rain.
Rain was also reported in southern Namibia at Ariamsvlei and Karasburg, while residents of Windhoek and Okahandja also reported light rain on Thursday.
According to the weather forecast for the interior of Namibia, partly cloudy and hot conditions can be expected in the northeast, otherwise sunny and hot but warm conditions is forecast for the central and southern regions.
Residents at the coast can expect partly cloudy and mild to warm conditions.
