Lichtenstrasser arrested on gun charges

Crime Reporter
THE 57-year-old Tsumeb resident, Ernst Lichtenstrasser, who was apprehended by the Namibian Police at Karibib on Tuesday evening as a person of interest in the assassination of Eckhardt Mueller and Heimo Hellwig at the entrance of the Arandis NIMT office have been arrested on charges of contravening Namibia’s Arms and Ammunition Act.
He will appear in court tomorrow morning.
The senior instructor at the Tsumeb Campus of the Namibia Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) was initially set free as person of interest, but was immediately rearrested on charges of contravening laws governing illegal fire arms and ammunition in Namibia.
An Informanté special investigation revealed previous brushes with the law in connection with the Plan-veterans connection with illegal fire-arms involving a arms cache discovered at Farm Tsaobis in 2013 and the discovery of a hand grenade in a later incident at his house.
The new charges again stems from alleged illegal and unlicensed fire-arms found in his possession when Lichtenstrasser was apprehended in Karibib.
Lichtenstrasser will be taken to Karibib where he will appear on charges of contravening the Namibian Arms and Ammunition Act tomorrow morning. It is the first available court date after the Easter long weekend.
