Keys to tribal office closes squabble chapter

ANOTHER point of dispute in the protracted squabbling within the Ondonga Traditional Authority (OTA) was solved this morning when Oshana Regional Governor Elia Irimari’s Special Adviser, Michael Mwinga (pictured third from left) handed over the keys of the Oluno tribal office to OTA leaders in Ondangwa.
Since 2017 the office was occupied by a faction that claimed to be the legitimate representatives of late King Immanuel Elifas and was opposed to the installation of Fillemon Shuumbwa Nangolo as new king of Ondonga. The faction launched and lost several high court challenges in an effort to prevent Nangolo’s installation.

However, Nangolo was installed as new king of Ondonga on 29 June and the faction headed by former Sam Nujoma bodyguard, Nepando Amupanda, quietly evacuated the Oluno office and handed the keys to regional council officials last month.
Mwinga travelled to Ondangwa this morning and handed the keys to senior traditional councillor Vilho Kamanya (pictured second from left) who was accompanied by OTA administrator Eddie Amkongo (pictured fourth from left) and other members of the OTA.
