Karate Namibia secures third spot at Championships

THE Namibia Karate Union (NAKU) hosted the 18th Region 5 Karate Championships at The Dome, Swakopmund where Namibia once again secured its place in the top three countries after scooping 105 medals at the tournament.
Hosting the event for the first time, Namibia scooped 19 gold medals, 25 silvers and 61 bronze medals with South Africa taking top spot with Botswana coming in second place.
This year’s Region 5 tournament, took place over the weekend, with National Karate Teams from seven Countries in Region 5, Angola, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe) taking part in the event and over 266 contestants competed to be crowned the best in Southern Africa.
