THE Executive Director in the Office of the Judiciary, Rolanda van Wyk has been appointed Vice President to the Executive Board of the International Association for court administration for Sub-Saharan Africa.
Van Wyk becomes the first Namibian to hold such a position. She follows in the footsteps of South Africa’s Simon Jiyane whose term began in 2014. Van Wyk served as a Prosecutor since 1999 before she moved up to the rank of Deputy Prosecutor General from 2006 to 2015 when she was appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary in the justice ministry.
She was subsequently appointed as Executive Director in 2016, at the establishment of the office of the Judiciary.
According to Ockert Jansen, Deputy Director of Public relations at the Judiciary, Van Wyk played a crucial role in the establishment of the Southern African Judicial Administrators Association in 2017, as a founding member.
“In her new role, Van Wyk will be tasked with promoting membership and networking within African Judiciaries as well as recruiting and appointing board members,” Jansen said.
