PUBLIC Enterprises Minister, Leon Jooste has refuted allegations against him that there are concerted efforts to kill Air Namibia to allow West Air to take over, saying that these are claims from individuals with unique agendas only known to them.
Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, he said that a meeting on the feasibility of the National Airline Air Namibia was held last week where recommendations were made by the Cabinet committee.
Amongst the recommendations, liquidation was the lowest on the list.
“The Cabinet committee on public Enterprises was tasked to facilitate the appointment of a consultant to evaluate the current business model of Air Namibia and to propose a more suitable business model that would allow for air Namibia to reach a break even position within a three year period,” Jooste said.
