THE management of Okapya Liner Transport has issued a public apology and condolences following a fatal road accident in Ondangwa on Tuesday, in which one person died on the spot and six others were injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One of Okapya Liner\u2019s Iveco buses veered into roadside vendors. In addition to the fatality and six injuries, the crash damaged vendors\u2019 goods and two other vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to police, the bus driver escaped without injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement released this week, Okapya Liner said it was \u201cdeeply saddened by the loss of a life and the injuries sustained by six people who are currently receiving medical attention.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe sincerely apologise to the street vendors whose businesses, goods, and property were damaged, as well as to the owners of the vehicles and other property affected by the accident. We recognise the distress, loss, and inconvenience this incident has caused,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company extended \u201cheartfelt condolences\u201d to the bereaved family and wished the injured \u201ca speedy and full recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Okapya Liner said it remains committed to cooperating with relevant authorities and to strengthening safety measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cTo the Ondangwa Town Council, the affected families, our passengers, fellow road users, the street-vending community, and the entire Namibian public, please accept our deepest and sincerest apologies,\u201d management said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company concluded by urging the bereaved family to \u201cfind strength and comfort during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
