THE Rotary Club Windhoek Cycle Classic will return in October with two days of cycling activities, including a new gravel race, road races and a dedicated children’s event, as organisers seek to attract cyclists of all ages and abilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 2026 edition is scheduled for Saturday, 3 October, and Sunday, 4 October, continuing a tradition that dates back to 1999.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Cycle Classic is a community service initiative of Rotary Club Windhoek, with proceeds from sponsorships and entry fees supporting community development projects across Namibia, particularly those focused on youth empowerment, education, sport and recreational activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A new gravel route will be introduced this year, expanding the event beyond its established road races and offering beginner, intermediate and advanced categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The gravel race will take place on Saturday, 3 October, alongside the Kiddies Classic, which provides a safe and supervised cycling event for young participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The road race will take place on Sunday, 4 October, featuring 20km and 40km fun rides for recreational cyclists, as well as 60km and 100km prize races for competitive riders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 100km race will also serve as an official seeding event for the Cape Town Cycle Tour, giving competitive cyclists an opportunity to improve their seeding for the major South African cycling event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Organisers said the event is open to participants from Namibia and beyond, with activities designed to cater for both recreational and competitive cyclists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
